European Firsts Knee Surgeries assisted by the Andy Robot
News - Point Presse
Amplitude, a subsidiary of the Zydus Group, confirms its technological expertise and innovation capabilities in orthopaedic solutions with the launch of the first knee replacement procedures performed using its andy robotic system.
Entering a new era of surgery
Over recent weeks, the Polyclinique Saint-Roch in Montpellier and Nice University Hospital have been successfully performed the first surgical procedures using the andy robot in the operating theatre, marking an important validation of this next-generation technology.
Closely involved in the design, development and clinical validation phases, the surgeons of these institutions contributed their expertise to fine-tune the robot’s functionalities, ensuring the system meets the highest surgical standards while closely addressing patient needs.
By partnering with Amplitude, a leading player in orthopaedic solutions, they have achieved a European first, illustrating their pioneering role and their commitment to advancing surgical practice for the benefit of patients.
A French innovation at the heart of the operating theatre
In late 2025, Amplitude obtained CE marking for its andy surgical robot, a major regulatory milestone that further reinforces the company’s leadership in innovation within the field of orthopaedics. Building on 20 years of experience with amplivision, andy, designed as a true surgical partner, is the first collaborative robotic system conceived and manufactured in France.
This compact, plug-and-play solution combines ergonomics with surgical intelligence. It enables personalised bone resections, either manually, controlled via a joystick or operated automatically, always under the surgeon’s supervision.
Performance and safety are at the core of the system, with sub-millimetre accuracy in planning and continuous blade monitoring at bone boundaries to preserve surrounding soft tissues.
Specifically developed for knee surgery, this CE-certified system brings together the navigation expertise of amplivision and the precision of the robotic arm developed by eCential Robotics. Together, they enable surgeons to operate with an unprecedented level of accuracy, consistency and control.
French MedTech in the spotlight: A benchmark technological solution
Developed through a partnership with eCential Robotics, the andy surgical cobot showcases Amplitude’s French industrial and technological expertise in orthopaedic robotics.
Building on this strong technological foundation, Amplitude is now ideally positioned to accelerate the clinical rollout of its robotic system, offering healthcare professionals a new benchmark in robot-assisted orthopaedic surgery.
